Creativity is in
my blood.
I don't know how to go through a day where I am not experimentally playing with visual ideas. Using natural resources to make dyes on different mediums, up cycling found objects, observing growth form and reaction.
In 2008 I graduated with a degree in visual arts and, even though I had spent four years in the arts majoring in photography, I never have referred to myself as an artist. After university I freelanced as a photographer and worked for a photographer.
In 2012 my husband and I started a company called The Zoo, a design studio specialising in photography and branding. During this time I also art directed in a few short films, commercials and events. At The Zoo I loved meeting our clients, finding out their stories and capturing them on camera, but all along I felt like it was not 100% me as a creative.
Skip a few years, two cool kids and a lot of soul searching I started to free myself with experimenting and pleasing the artist inside. I wanted to find my style and who I am, instead of solely helping others find theirs. It's a journey that will always keep me growing as an artist. Today, I do know I have made some pretty neat stuff that I am now ready to be vulnerable and brave to share with the rest of the world.
“My darling girl, when are you going to realise that being normal is not necessarily a virtue? It rather denotes a lack of courage."
